Personal Testimonies

Chris-TestimonyOn April 30, 1986 as my family and I were at a restaurant in Everett, Washington, I came under deep conviction of my sin, as a result of my disobedience to my parents, and knew that I needed to be saved. When we arrived home, I asked my father if I could be saved, and he took me into my bedroom where we knelt down and I asked the Lord to forgive me for my sins, and save me.  I was baptized about a year later.
After salvation, the Lord placed a great desire in my heart to serve Him, but during high school, my focus shifted from serving God to pursuing the American dream. I went to college, received a degree in electrical engineering and was commissioned as an officer into the military.
My first duty assignment was to Rome, New York, where the Lord used the preaching at a local Baptist church to show me my prideful pursuits.
In 2007, while on a military assignment to Ohio, I heard a laymen at a local Baptist church preach a message on “Which Chair are You in?”.  This was the message God used to convict me of my need to surrender my life to full-time ministry. I am excited about where the Lord has been leading my wife and me, and am totally surrendered to doing God’s will.

Chris & Rebekah (39)-croppdHello my name Rebekah and I grew up in a Christian home where I was taught by example to love the Lord and obey him. When I was only 4 years old my father was diagnosed with cancer, and after one month of battling cancer he passed away, leaving my mother to provide for her three daughters. A few months later, while talking with one of my cousins, I realized my need for salvation and accepted Christ as my personal Saviour.
My parents were faithful in taking me to church.  In 1986 at the age of 4 years old, I realized my need for salvation and was saved. Then in 1998, I was baptized by my uncle Pastor Jim Swieringa.
In 2007, while attending Camp CoBeAc in, Houghton Lake, Michigan, I surrendered my life to the Lord for full-time Christian service. Upon graduation from high school, I attended Ambassador Baptist College in Lattimore, North Carolina. This is where I met my husband Christopher, and realized God’s calling for my life.  I am excited about what God has in store for us.
